Flow-Through Drainage
Perforated turf backing combined with a clean-stone or decomposed granite base allows liquids to drain immediately — no pooling, no surface moisture retention.
A beautiful, low-maintenance lawn that's safe for your dogs — no mud, no dead patches, no pesticides, and no odors when installed with the right drainage and infill system.
The Right System for Dogs
Standard turf installations use infill and drainage systems designed for foot traffic and appearance — not for pets. The result: odors, bacterial buildup, and urine pooling. Turfli's pet turf installations use ZeoFill or antimicrobial infill combined with a flow-through backing and a clean-stone sub-base that lets liquids pass through immediately.
No smell. No standing liquid. Safe for your dogs and your family.

The Pet Turf Difference
Perforated turf backing combined with a clean-stone or decomposed granite base allows liquids to drain immediately — no pooling, no surface moisture retention.
ZeoFill is a natural zeolite mineral that captures ammonium ions — the source of pet odors — and releases them safely over time. Antimicrobial infill options add an extra layer of odor and bacteria control.
We use turf products with higher face weight and tighter stitch counts for pet areas — more durable under heavy dog traffic without sacrificing softness underfoot.
Solid waste is removed as usual. For liquid, the drainage system does the work. A periodic rinse with a garden hose and occasional enzyme treatment keeps the system fresh year-round.
All turf products and infill materials we install are non-toxic and free of heavy metals. Safe for dogs who dig, chew, or roll — and for children who play alongside them.
Our installation warranty covers drainage performance, seam integrity, and surface stability for 15 years. If the system doesn't drain correctly, we make it right.
Questions
Yes, when the right product is selected. We use higher face-weight turf (typically 70–90 oz) with reinforced backing for dog runs and heavy-use pet areas. These products are rated for commercial pet applications and hold up significantly better than residential-grade turf under constant heavy use.
Not if it's installed correctly. The most common cause of pet turf odor is inadequate drainage combined with an infill that traps odor compounds. Our installs use ZeoFill or antimicrobial infill and a proper flow-through drainage system — liquids don't pool, bacteria don't build up, and the surface stays fresh even in 115°F summer heat.
The turf products we install are made from non-toxic polyethylene and polypropylene fibers — no harmful chemicals, no heavy metals. While we'd prefer your dog not chew the turf, the materials are not dangerous if small amounts are ingested. We can also install chew-deterrent border systems to protect the turf edges.
Remove solid waste as you would from a regular lawn. For liquid, the drainage system handles it automatically. A weekly rinse with a garden hose keeps the surface clean and fresh. Monthly or quarterly enzyme treatment is recommended to neutralize any residual odor compounds. Annual professional grooming and infill refresh helps maintain long-term performance.
